ISCA CHAIRMAN: APPEAL TO ASSIST QUAKE/TSUNAMI VICTIMS

URGENT APPEAL

The Islamic Supreme Council of America, its chairman Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, and its staff, have just returned from a conference in Indonesia attended by their excellencies, Mr. Jusuf Kalla, Vice President of Indonesia, HRH Raja Muda Raja Nazrin ibni Sultan 'Azlan Shah, Pro-Chancellor, University of Malaya and Crown Prince of Malaysia's state of Perak, Dr. Alwi Shihab, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, Dato' Hishammudin Tun Hussein, Minister of Education of Malaysia,  Dato' Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia, as well as many other NGOs and government officials, and ambassadors from many nations.

ISCA calls on members and supporters to please assist our disaster relief efforts for victims of the Southeast Asian earthquake and tsunamis.

"The devastation is so huge it cannot be described," said Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani. "We are in touch with the Vice President's office and the urgency of getting help cannot be overstated."

He continued, "Through our grassroots connections and affiliations with local NGOs we estimate the current casualty figures in Indonesia alone will rise to more than 150,000 making total casualties around 200,000. Your help is very much appreciated as soon as possible."

"Be generous," Shaykh Kabbani added. "This is the time of trade with God, of doing charity and good works and helping the suffering. With Eid al-Adha (the Muslim Hajj celebration, Hari Raya) coming, please give in order to supply food, clothing, medicines and cash to those most in need."

ISCA seeks zakat payments, one-time donations and monthly donations to spend where it is most urgently needed.

Current casualty figures:

115,000 DEAD.

4 MILLION HOMELESS.

~ 1.5 MILLION ORPHANS.

LACK OF SANITATION, CLEAN WATER.

SPREAD OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE
